October: Starting An Environment, & End up making a Script

At the beginning of October, I decided to begin working on a new environment project to get a better understanding of texturing and modular asset building.. As I was brainstorming ideas, I ended up settling on creating a turn of the century cigar bar or gentleman's club. I was heavily influenced to go with this idea after reading Erik Larson's Devil in the White City. The book is about Chicago World's Fair which was an a engineering and architectural miracle for its time.  With that being said, I started gathering my reference and creating the foundation of my interior.

After finishing my research, I began blocking out my environment in both Maya and UE4. However after a couple of days of progress, I quickly came to realize that how I export my meshes was pretty inefficient. So in order to fix this workflow issue, I decided to create a script that would allow me to export a mesh with the single push of a button. After a couple of weeks of scripting and testing, I created a exporter that allows me to build my environment anywhere, then selecting an object or objects, I can export out them with a sign push of a button. Look forward to the demo video for the script soon! And now back to the environment!!!
